York County Economic Development names Eduardo Venegas
Deputy Director
Supporting Strategic and Balanced Growth

YORK COUNTY, SC – York County, SC — York County Economic Development recently welcomed Eduardo Venegas as Deputy Director. In his new role, he will work with County leadership, municipal partners, and private-sector stakeholders to support small businesses, help existing industries expand, and attract right-fit companies. His work will further strengthen the department’s long-term economic and community development initiatives already underway.

“Eduardo joining our team is a big win for York County,” said Mitch Miller, Director of Economic Development. “As we look ahead, we’re focused on thoughtful, strategic growth by attracting companies that complement our community while supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening small businesses. Eduardo’s experience will help us build on that progress.”

Venegas most recently served as Economic Development Specialist for the City of Rock Hill, where he supported initiatives to strengthen the local business environment and advance entrepreneurship. He helped launch Student-Made Rock Hill in partnership with Winthrop University, giving students hands-on experience developing and showcasing products. He also contributed to the #ShopRockHill campaign and placemaking projects that enhanced public spaces and strengthened the city’s business climate.

Previously, Venegas was Business Recruitment Manager for the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, representing the 14-county Charlotte Region in domestic and international markets including Canada, Brazil, and Europe. Earlier in his career, he worked at York Technical College as Program Manager for Business and Professional Development and as a Business Consultant with the South Carolina Small Business Development Center, supporting entrepreneurs and employers with growth and workforce strategies.

Venegas’ experience aligns with the County’s evolving economic development strategy, which prioritizes small business support, workforce alignment, and coordinated growth across the county. Over the past year, the department has laid the groundwork for targeted initiatives that support local entrepreneurship, guide intentional growth, and reinforce quality of life as part of York County’s economic advantage.

“I am excited to continue building strong partnerships across York County and supporting businesses at every stage,” Venegas said. “There is tremendous opportunity here, and I look forward to helping move that work forward.”

Originally from Monteverde, Costa Rica, Venegas holds an MBA in Strategic Leadership from Winthrop University and brings both regional and international experience to his new role.
