Sand Cos. Inc. of Minnesota will develop a 110-room hotel in Rock Hill’s University Center as some of the first new tenants for the redevelopment of the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing site are announced. Plus, Atlas Copco confirms that it’s moving 70 employees to the $45 million Lowenstein building at University Center.

Kingsley Park tops out final office building amid 'incredible growth' in Fort Mill

The Springs Co. and Childress Klein of Charlotte found a new equity partner when they decided to build the last office building in Kingsley Park in Fort Mill. The Salton family, which founded AccessOne, the health-care IT company that’s decided to lease the third floor in Kingsley Park 7, is now a partner in ownership of that building.

Annual job growth for York County more than quadrupled the national average in the spring of 2017, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. York County had the highest percentage increase of employment of the country’s 346 largest counties in this year’s first quarter.

A big shift in the future of Fort Mill

The arrival of the $500 million first phase of Kingsley has put the S.C. town on the corporate relo map. S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley brought more than an economic development announcement to Fort Mill when she arrived for a press conference in June 2014. The two corporate campuses she would reveal that day — the relocation of Lash Group and LPL Financial from Charlotte — also served as the catalyst for a major shift in growth for the town and York County.

Huge Riverwalk industrial building destined to be a part of new retail distribution?

A Florida developer is venturing into the Charlotte market for a joint venture with a Rock Hill company for a $25 million speculative industrial building. McCraney Property Co. of West Palm Beach is partnering with Riverwalk developer, the Greens of Rock Hill, for the 507,500-square-foot shell building, which is already under construction. Its site is in the Riverwalk Business Park.

Schaeffler still growing S.C. bearing plants as it completes $164M expansion in state

Fresh off a $36 million expansion that bought Schaeffler Group USA Inc.’s Fort Mill Plant 1 to close to 500 employees, the German-owned company believes that number will be closer to 550 by 2020. Pees says the key to that expansion — beyond a booming business for its automaker customers — is the workforce that Schaeffler has found in South Carolina.

S.C. Department of Commerce Announces 2017 Industry Impact Awards – York County Companies Snag Two of 12 Spots

As part of the 26th annual Industry Appreciation series, the S.C. Department of Commerce recognized its 2017 Industry Impact Award recipients during an event on Thursday, May 11 at The Hall at Senate's End in Columbia, S.C. Two of the 12 companies honored were from York County. Shutterfly was selected as in the large company category and Anderson Hydra Platforms was selected in the small company category.

Atlas Copco celebrates grand opening of new Rock Hill facility

Atlas Copco today celebrated the grand opening of its new production facility in Rock Hill with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The $25 million plant at 1059 Paragon Way employs more than 300 and serves as the production and assembly facility for the global company’s North American Construction Technique division.

Amid rising student debt and lack of needed skills, York County students learn on the job

Through Apprenticeship Carolina, a division of the S.C. Technical College System, employers sponsor apprenticeships, providing on-the-job training to help students forge a career path, according to the program’s website. Apprenticeships are registered with the U.S. Department of Labor and meet national training standards. Employers receive a $1,000 tax credit for each registered apprentice employed for at least seven months.

Lash Group could more than double current employment in Fort Mill to 2,500

Lash Group may grow to a total of 2,500 employees as fills a second building at its Fort Mill campus. Construction is starting on a new 173,000-square-foot building in the Kingsley development at the S.C. Highway 160 interchange of Interstate 77 in York County.
